Several basic concepts in reverse osmosis water treatment system

TDS: Total dissolved solids, also known as the total amount of soluble solids, which indicates how many milligrams of soluble solids are dissolved in 1 liter of water.

TDS: Total dissolved solids, also known as the total amount of soluble solids, which indicates how many milligrams of soluble solids are dissolved in 1 liter of water.The higher the TDS value, the more dissolved substances the water contains. Total dissolved solids refers to the total amount of all solutes in water, including the content of both inorganic and organic substances.

SDI: The pollution index is an indicator that measures the pretreatment effect of the system. Generally, the SDI of deep well water is <6.7, and the SDI requirement for water inlet in reverse osmosis devices is SDI<5.

LSI: Langelier Saturation Index, Langelier index is a measure of the tendency of reverse osmosis equipment to scale. LSI=0, the system has no tendency to scale and no tendency to corrode; LSI>0, the system has a tendency to scale; LSI<0, the system has a tendency to corrode.

For reverse osmosis systems, the LSI value is required to be no greater than 0.The LSI value of the system can be reduced by adding acid, and the water recovery rate of the system can also be reduced.

Ksp: Solubility equilibrium constant. The reverse osmosis device selects the solvent and solute in the raw water to pass through. On the concentrated water side, the concentration is reduced due to the solvent. When the concentration of dissolved solids on the concentrated water side is greater than the solubility equilibrium constant, it will crystallize and precipitate, which will cause harm to the reverse osmosis device.Increasing the solubility equilibrium constant of the system can be done by adding a scale inhibitor, which can increase the solubility of dissolved solids.

Several kinds of instruments and instruments necessary in the reverse osmosis system are:

1) Pollution index meter: Used to measure the SDI index of the system pretreatment.

2) Concentrated water flow meter: Used to measure the flow rate of concentrated water in the system, and used in conjunction with the production water flow meter to determine the recovery rate of the system.

3) Water production flow meter: used to measure the flow rate of water produced by the system.Water production conductivity meter: used to measure the water quality (conductivity) of the system's water production

4) Pressure gauge: measure the water inlet pressure, inter-segment pressure, concentrated water pressure, and water production pressure of the system.

5) Water inlet flowmeter: Used to measure the total water inlet flow of the system.

6) Thermometer: Used to measure the temperature of the system operation.

7) Water inlet PH meter: Used to measure changes in the water inlet PH value of the system.

8) Water inlet conductivity meter: used to measure the water inlet conductivity of the system, and used in conjunction with the water production conductivity to determine the desalination rate of the system.

9) Redox meter: Used to measure the amount of oxidizing substances in the water of the system to determine the degree of threat to the safety of the system.

10) High and low voltage protection switch: used to protect the system from operating under low pressure (insufficient water supply) and high pressure.
